7) Silence
If silence had hands,
I would have reached for stars.
If silence had feet,
I would rush for my dreams.
If silence had tongue,
I would speak the truth.
If silence had eyes,
I would see beyond oceans.
If silence had colours,
I would paint the sky red.
If silence had wings,
I would fly to horizons.
But silence is just an expression,
So I would keep it with me forever.
8) Rain, rain please come!
You promised you'd come soon,
Where have you strayed O' monsoon?
Soil is parched and bone-dry,
Water! Water! There's a cry.
Plants are withered and are crying,
Go out in rain, have taste of frying.
There's no water down in the wells,
One can hear the drought bells.
O Rain God! To man, be kind,
See for self, be not blind.
Make Ludhiana wet and green,
We will later make it clean.
We want to have a rainy shower,
May be morning or evening, any hour.
We want to sail the paper boats,
To far off lands, let them float.
So, hear our prayers O rain God!
So please agree, give your nod.
9) Prayer for rain
Oh God! Lord,
My dear bring us rain.
Please come and go,
Seasons bring heat while winter heavy
snow.
Monsoons bring rains
And water the earth gains.
But this year,
Drought is becoming severe.
There is no rain,
And people are crying in vain.
Extreme heat is falling on the earth,
And to dryness it is giving birth.
Greenery is vanishing day by day,
To gain back that faith in you,
Rain is the only way.
Most of the crops are spoiled,
And grains are rare,
Thereby, the fields are becoming bare.
Please listen to our humble prayer,
Do not cause dryness to earth's motherly
layer.
Oh God! Please bring us rain,
And thus cut our pain,
Oh God!
My dear Lord,
Please bring us rain.
10) The Salute
I salute the assiduous gems today who an-
-nihilated the enemy throughout the way,
I compliment their meticulous deeds,
They are fruits of well-sown seeds,
I am proud of brave-hearted mothers,
Who sacrificed their Pearls for sake of others.
Look at exemplary and intrepid
Prowess of our nation,
Forever assigned to clear death examination.
It's very laudatory that they cross fierce winds,
So let's salute them and say it loud,
Jai Hind!
11) Television
Television — a boon or a bane?
Day and night, my eyes strain,
Parents feel you are a pain.
All the time, I squint and cry,
Gazing hard with the bleary eye,
Mothers yell and fathers scream.
Everything passes in a dream,
You leave us with poor vision,
Yes, you're the Television.
12) Your Smile
Smile please, it costs nothing,
At least you have something,
To share with others.
Share the knowledge you have,
Take blessings from all others,
Live your life your own way,
And shine like a star in the sky.
Spread joy all around,
By some virtues you are bound,
Does a short life span matter?
Struggle till a new destination is found.
Push all your shortcomings aside,
Bring your real emotions out.
You'll notice that you,
Reach the pinnacle of success,
No matter how short the life span.
Smile, Smile, Smile...
Because a smile of yours,
will erase your pains,
For a while.
13) Death and Life
One day I thought of
confronting death and life,
And pondered from where on this earth
do we come to survive?
Then came another query
Who do people die to relive?
Why do we come like passengers
on this Earth?
As per its deeds, the soul gets punished
and rewarded,
The number of breaths are gifted
as a soul gets incarnated.
When one is born,
all feel arrogant and glad,
but death makes people
feel pathetic and sad.
No one admires death as a door to new life
by such contemplation death and life will
become alike.
14) Prayer
I pray Thee,
To make us free.
From the shackles of sin,
I pray Thee.
To keep me busy like a bee,
And make me work hard.
But at the same time, I pray Him.
To shower happiness on every living thing.
Oh Lord! Please answer my prayers
And make our lives happy
and prosperous.
15) Beauty of Nature
Let Nature take over
Visit earth
the gateway
to the heart of Nature
Dip your soul
into its emerald verdant
and lush forests
Make your way to the
secret heart of its jungles.
Experience its wildlife
wild beauty
that goes on
enchanting earth.
Experience yourself
The places where we celebrate
exclusively,
as much we celebrate life...
16) Evergreen
Beautiful garden
beautiful house
in tandem
rhymes well
looks great
the garden
is a labour
of love
a beautiful garden
livens up our life...
17) Lost in Turmoil
Time's been no healer
victims of a flawed
political system
The live in the nightmare
their wounds not healed
And get another unwanted
lease of life
Life being a struggle uphill
not everybody can understand
this living distress
You can never live in past
It is of no use
how can one forget and forgive?
It is really painful
everything can be forgiven
but scars are always
there to pinch you.
18) Darkness
Go away night, go away now.
Let me feel happy for a while.
As the day will soon grow.
You are scary and dead,
giving me tremors,
in and out of the bed.
Come for a short period,
as creeps come with you,
and go when not required.
Day is always good.
For the brightness it brings,
Shading everything nice under its hood.
19) Road Safety
They play hide or seek,
around a while parked on the way,
what dangers they seek,
on the road as they play.
There is no safety,
The roads are turned into parks.
Gilli danda, Cricket or football,
They play here games all,
what worth is winning the game,
When you may lose it all.
Street players do dare,
running balls or beaten kites.
Getting crushed and injured in fights,
Their greatest chase is dad's car.
Or brothers bike,
Where will you see the frenzy like,
This on bikes gunning, car whizzing -
Kids driving is no kidding,
Who is to blame?
Parents, teachers or school.
What does it matters, everyone takes it cool,
Traffic police has a terrific time,
Putting road runners ahead.
20) Friendship
Friendship is the pathway, come true
That leads to dreams come true
Friendship is like a star,
Which seems to be blooming
Like a flower.
Friendship is an acorn,
Which is filled with emotions.
Friendship is like a mirror,
Handle it with great care,
If once broken,
It would be hard to repair.
21) Time
Time is a beauty on earth,
Which runs fast from birth
Time is very precious,
Run to the ambitious.
Time is not to waste,
As it doesn't wait.
Make haste,
Or you will be late.
Respect time,
And everything will go fine.
22) My heart
With a little help from friends,
Why do my eyes get moist,
Ever so often?
Why does a warm,
Cozy feeling cuddle,
My heart.
And the words,
"God in His Heaven,
And all is well."
23) The Lights of New York
The lighting upon your garment for the night
Of silver filaments with fire shot thro'
Of braiding of lamps that hits for you
The steadfast splendor of enduring light.
The moon drifts dimly in the heaven's height,
Watching with wonder how the earth she knew
That lay so long wrapped deep in dark and dew,
Should wear upon her breast a star so white.
The festivals of Babylon were dark
Unto florid Tremont that the wind blew down;
The Saturnalia were a wild boy's lark
With rain-quenched torches dripping thru the town —
But you have found a god and filched from him
A fire that neither wind nor rain can dim.
24) Gifts
(a) I gave my first love laughter,
I gave my second tears,
I gave my third love silence
Through all the years.
(b) My first love gave me singing,
My second eyes to see,
But oh, it was my third love
Who gave my soul to me.
